The Four Things that have Defined West Virginia’s History

Dave Whitson of Portland, Oregon, is walking across the United States on the American Discovery Trail (ADT). He conducts “Sea to Shining Sea” podcasts about the history of each state he will cross. On December 10, 2019, he interviewed me about West Virginia, and I began by telling him the four things that I believe have defined West Virginia’s history. We went on to discuss a range of topics including the controversial birth of the state, labor unrest, education, the unusual number of national/international holidays with West Virginia connections, etc. He also interviews Sharon Weekley, ADT State Co-Cordinator for West Virginia.

The Love Child of Joseph Heller and Carol Burnett?

J.D. Bryne, a West Virginia author who likes to interview other authors, published an interview with me on March 14, 2018. Among other things we discussed the diverse influences on my writing, my writing process, and the weirdest thing I’ve ever had to research.
